The Wood Duck is North America's  most colorful and one of our best known species of waterfowl. Depicted in their spring breeding plumage this pair has probably selected a hollow tree on the edge of this wooded lake for a nesting site. The artist has captured the early morning mood of the scene including the animated pair with accuracy and care.
